Rockville Snow Emergency prompts parking restrictions
WASHINGTON -- Rockville has declared a snow emergency that means all vehicles need to be moved from roads, including neighborhood streets, by 9 p.m. Wednesday.
Crews are preparing for a storm that is expected to bring significant snowfall to the D.C. area.
Residents are urged to stay off the roads once the storm begins.
If vehicles cannot be moved to driveways or garages, they should be parked on the even-numbered side of the street. In courts or cul-de-sacs, parking is allowed only on the left side of the streets as one enters the cul-de-sac or court.
The city is opening three public parking lots for resident to park their cars:
- Rockville Civic Center, 603 Edmonston Drive
- Rockville Swim and Fitness Center, 355 Martins Lane
- Elwood Smith Community Center, 601 Harrington Road
On-street parking in Rockville Town Center will be restricted starting at 11 p.m. Wednesday until further notice.
Rockville's recycling and trash service will be canceled on Thursday, March 5 and will be collected on Friday, March 6.
