Murray's Minute -- Feb. 15
WTOP's own Tim Murray is covering hockey at the Winter Games. Here's his daily update from PyeongChang.
One thing I've really enjoyed at the Olympics are the positive attitudes so many of these athletes have. Meet Jessie Diggins. She did not win a medal, but finished fifth in the cross-country skiing 10k free, her second 5th place finish and third top 6 finish in PyeongChang. Her two 5th place finishes are the highest an American woman has finished in CC skiing at the Olympics. This was her quote after the race...
"For me, it was a really good day. I executed my race plan. I went as hard as I could. I could not have pushed any harder out there & I know that. For me there's more important things than just the medal & I think it's important to not put other people's expectations on myself"
Incredible perspective. She did not win a medal... so what? She put in the work and she knows she gave it everything she had. She should absolutely be proud of her great accomplishments so far in PyeongChang.
