Murray's Minute -- Feb. 18
WTOP's own Tim Murray is covering hockey at the Winter Games. Here's his daily update from Pyeongchang.
“It’s special … emotional. That’s the team I cheered for my whole life, you know?”
Korea lost to Canada, 4-0, in men’s hockey on Sunday night.
OK. So what?
The notable thing about this game was that a handful of players on Team Korea are Canadian, including goalie Matt Dalton. He made 45 saves and after the game, it was great to chat with him.
Can you imagine growing up in Canada and playing hockey against them in the Olympics?
I know he wasn’t facing Sidney Crosby but it was still Team Canada.
What a surreal experience that had to have been.
I asked him what his family & friends said to him before the game. He laughed and said they told him “to just keep it close.”
Well, mission accomplished.
